THAT Company President Ken Knorr was honored with the Entrepreneur of the Year award at the 2010 Lake County Community Service Awards on April 28 at Lake Receptions in Mount Dora.
“I’m extremely thankful to be honored by the community,” said Knorr. “This award would not be possible without the dedication and commitment of That Company employees who worked hard every day to make this company a success. This award is really for them.”
The community service awards are sponsored by the Lake County League of Cities, The Daily Commercial, Leadership Lake County Alumni Association, The Chamber Alliance of Lake County, Lake-Sumter Community College Business Resource Center and Lake Receptions.
Three years ago, Knorr and his wife Tina, along with two employees, started Buildtelligence Web Solutions, LLC, offering Internet marketing services. Today, THAT Company (Formerly Buildtelligence) employs more than 26 people and continues to grow.
Knorr was challenged with finding office space for his growing company last year. Knorr launched an exhaustive search in Lake County for suitable office space. After several months searching the county for an adequate office that would accommodate a rapidly growing company, Knorr struck a deal to lease a building owned by the City of Leesburg.
THAT Company has a unique working environment. In their world headquarters in Leesburg, you will find Nerf gun wars a regular occurrence, a complete 80’s style arcade, outdoor basketball court, draft coke soda fountain, cappuccino machine, and a huge snack machine with everything for sale at 25 cents. There are even plans to install a putt-putt golf course for his workers.
“Making a fun work environment for our people is extremely important to me” said Knorr. “They work hard so they should be able to play hard too” With their rapid growth and dedicated employees the philosophy is surely paying off.
Buildtelligence recently moved its headquarters from Mount Dora to Leesburg, re-branded the company’s image and expanded its services to incorporate traditional advertising in print, radio and television. Buildtelligence is the parent company of THAT Company and provides services to small businesses and Fortune 500 companies in the US, and Worldwide.
